About The Society of the Sacred Heart

The Society of the Sacred Heart is an international Roman Catholic religious congregation founded in France in 1800 by Saint Madeleine Sophie Barat. Dedicated to the education of young women, the Society established its first UK presence in 1842. Today, the Society oversees a network of schools across the UK, ranging from prestigious independent boarding schools to state-maintained high schools and primary schools. Its educational mission is governed by five core goals: faith, intellect, social awareness, community, and personal growth.
