At Indeparent, we are committed to transparency and to empowering our community.
This page explains the profile information we ask for, why we ask for it, and how it supports our mission:
“to help parents make confident, informed choices, and to help schools learn and grow through constructive, well-intentioned feedback.”
What Information Do We Ask For?
When you create an account, we invite you to share optional information about yourself and your children, such as:
Your personal values.
Your child(ren)'s favourite subjects.
Your child(ren)'s personality type.
None of this is required to leave a review. You can use Indeparent fully without providing it — but sharing it helps us build a richer, more useful community resource.
Why Do We Ask For This Data?
We collect this information for one primary reason: to provide more relevant, personalised, and meaningful insights for families.
Here’s how it helps:
Personalised Recommendations (coming soon): Your profile helps train our recommendation system so we can suggest schools that may be a strong fit for families like yours.
Better Community Insights: By understanding the values and backgrounds of different parent groups, we can surface trends such as how certain types of families rate particular aspects of a school.
Fairness and Bias Detection: Profile data — always aggregated and anonymised — helps us check whether our scoring and feedback remain fair and consistent across different groups. This is essential to ensuring Indeparent supports all families, not just the majority voice.
Your Privacy and Control
Your trust is paramount.
Anonymity is Key: Your profile information is never shown publicly alongside your reviews unless you explicitly choose to reveal your identity. All community-level insights are anonymised by default.
You Are in Control: You can view, update, or delete your entire personal profile. Note: Your anonymised reviews may remain part of the Indeparent Score history to support the community, but will no longer be linked to you.
We Ask, You Decide: Almost all profile fields are optional. Share as much or as little as you’re comfortable with. However, the more information families choose to provide, the more powerful — and helpful — the community’s insights become.
See our Privacy Policy for more information about how we handle your data.
A Collective Resource
By contributing a small amount of optional information, you are helping build a more transparent, data-driven, and trustworthy resource for parents everywhere.
Together, we’re creating the tool we all wished existed when choosing a school.
