The Mercers' Company is the premier Livery Company of the City of London (ranking first in the order of precedence). Its educational legacy dates back to 1509, when Dean John Colet (a Mercer) founded St Paul's School and entrusted its management to the Company. Today, the Company manages a massive philanthropic endowment and maintains a close network of 17 "Associated Schools and Colleges" (often referred to as the Mercers' Cluster).
