The school occupies 22 acres of grounds, featuring woodlands and extensive sports facilities. It has been on its current site since 1900, having been founded in 1863. The New Beacon claims its ethos focuses on respect, individuality, and aspiration, aiming to combine academic achievement with personalized pastoral care. The school merged with Tonbridge School in 2021.
