Private Co-Educational Schools in Wandsworth

The London Borough of Wandsworth, historically rooted in the county of Surrey, possesses a profoundly distinguished educational heritage. The area holds a uniquely influential place in the history of independent education, historically serving as a prime suburban destination for ancient London foundations relocating south of the River Thames to secure more expansive campuses, as famously demonstrated by Emanuel School's relocation to Battersea Rise in 1883. Furthermore, Wandsworth stands as a historic cradle of progressive teaching in Britain, anchored by pioneering educational movements established in areas such as Roehampton. Benefiting from this illustrious and dynamic legacy, the borough boasts an exceptional landscape for private co-educational schools designed to provide a world-class education whilst allowing boys and girls to learn and develop together. You will find a remarkable diversity of learning environments across the locality, ranging from the highly prestigious, historically renowned setting of Emanuel School to the more boutique, deeply nurturing environment of The Roche School. Wandsworth is uniquely notable for its exceptionally high concentration of elite co-educational preparatory establishments, such as Thomas's Battersea and Newton Prep, which seamlessly blend rigorous academic preparation with expansive outdoor learning alongside the borough's vast commons. Establishments here frequently benefit from their leafy urban campuses, offering state-of-the-art facilities, world-class extra-curricular programmes and highly individualised pastoral care.
